FAQs
IS THERAPY RIGHT FOR ME ?
Therapy is completely individualized, and people seek treatment for a variety of reasons. Throughout the therapeutic process, expect to work hard to achieve your goals, strengthen your relationship with others and yourself, and improve self-awareness. An integral piece of therapy is having a great connection and rapport with your therapist, and each therapist has his or her own unique style. I'm hopeful that I can meet your therapeutic needs, but if necessary, I'm happy to provide referrals to other providers. Therapy should always be conducted in an environment of trust and understanding.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN SESSION?
Therapy should be a place where clients feel comfortable to talk about what is going on in their lives. I work hard to create a safe, secure, judgement free area where clients can work on their issues. The first and second session is about developing a relationship and creating a natural relationship where conversation can happen with ease about important issues.
IS THERAPY CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes, all information you share with your therapist is confidential. However, there are some exceptions. The exceptions are: if you have intent to harm yourself or someone else, suspected child or elder abuse, or in the case of legal proceedings. Additionally, if you are paying with insurance, there is some information that gets released to your insurance company, like dates of service and diagnosis.
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
Yes, I accept UMR, UHC, Aetna, Cigna, and HPS at this current time.
HOW LONG WILL I BE IN THERAPY?
The length of treatment varies quite a bit from person to person. Some folks prefer shorter-term therapy, while some therapeutic processes can take several months. Length of treatment is highly individualized and is based on collaboration with client and therapist. Sessions usually occur on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis.
